function keys on a thinkoutside bt keyboard
i have a thinkoutside bt keyboard, the "sonoma" model and it's paired with my samsung q1p. i thought i would miss having a dedicated row of numbers, but i've learned to work around it. what i do miss, however, are the function keys of (f1-f12). i thought i read somewhere that you could use a series of key presses to emulate the function keys, but tech on the other end of the support line said that there was no such thing. then, i remembered that i thought i saw the article on jkontherun. that's when i found this post. sure enough, using the left fn key plus the keys on the "a through l" row acted as the function keys.
i tried calling support back to let them know what i found, but it was past their support hours.

removing image persistence from a lcd monitor
i've had the same background image on my lcd at work for a few months and every time i work on a blank word doc, i've noticed that i can see a ghostly after image in the white space. i don't have a screen saver because i thought that lcd's were immune to the screen burn problems that plasmas and crts have. a quick google brought me to this simple lifehacker tip to create a all white background and use it as my screen saver. i started using it today, so i'll report back on it's effectiveness.

it's 7:28 and i'm STILL at the office?
why the heck am i still plugging away when my family is at home, waiting for me, and the cleaning crew are vacuuming away? it's because i spent most of day doing knowledge transfers for my team. i recently became a manager and hired some new folks. so, during the day, i put on my manager hat and teach them "stuff" and when they go home, i put on my propeller cap and geek away.
